Maps, Places, & Other Geographic Information:
  • Modern & Historical Topographic Maps (via USGS)
  • Geologic Maps (via USGS)
  • Geologic Maps of Arkansas (via the Arkansas Geological Survey)
  • Find sections, townships, and ranges on this map (via USGS)
    • Click on the 'Add Data' button on the green toolbar (the button with the + symbol)
    • Scroll down until you find "BLM Public Land Survey System (PLSS)"
    • Click "Add"
    • Close out of the 'Add Data' window
    • Zoom in until you see the red township and range grid appears
    • Continue to zoom and the township and ranges will be labelled
    • Continue to zoom and sections will appear and be labelled
  • GeoNames.org (a good site to find obscure geographic locations, such as mountains and creeks)
  • Google Earth (free software for your mobile, tablet, laptop, desktop, and VR)
  • QGIS (free, open source Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software alternative to ArcGIS)
